Video: Charlie Chaplins amazing "Speach for Humanity"

Charlie Chaplin, was an English comedy actor. Chaplin became one of the most famous actors as well as a notable director and musician in the early to mid Hollywood cinema era. He is considered to be one of the finest mimes and clowns ever caught on film and has greatly influenced performers in this field.

In this clip we will see a speech given by Chaplin which was written by him. He would later give thoughts on the words he wrote and would often refer to this scene as the ‘Speech for Humanity’.

brilliant.  utterly brilliant.

with regards theboondocks's comments, i too am an atheist.  and as atheists we know that religion can be a conservative force.  but religion should not be dismissed so readily.  in many cases peoples religious faiths have helped them resist and refuse.  for example, the haitian slave revolt led by toussaint l'ouverture (a proper hero for any revolutionary) was influenced by christianity.

regarding chaplin's speech, it was great to see it again.  thanks.

What it reads as. There is nothing enigmatic about that idea.
I disagreed with parts of Charlie's speech but that I disagreed with most, I think.

Well in that case you are THINKING too much about it.   The key is balance.

The idea of balance seems to sound as if it were ideal, but ok, even if it were, how do measure? By thinking or feeling, or both?
For objective balance you would need external scales or external thought (machinery). Subjective balance would be biased by definition. Do you employ both and work out an average or what?  Huh

I say that man feels to much and thinks too little in the context of 'what is wrong with the world' and I think that it is reflected through dominant socio-economic models - neo-liberalist (though that is dynamic). They are invested in private interest which has to with, in my opinion, feeling over thought. They are based on satisfaction and agency or selfishness. Where as a more communal leaning model would be more thoughtful - reflected through desire for planning, which you more of in left-wing models. Right-wing models are reliant on interests and market forces to plan economy.

Also, hate is as much a feeling as love. Racism, sexism, homophobia etc. are all based on more feeling than thought. If you introduce thought into the equation I think the conclusion is that love is more beneficial. It allows you to defend yourself but at the same time, give a damn.

I think that Charlie Chaplin's speech was more emotionally penned than thoughtfully penned. He had the best of intentions, but the language he used appeared to be rhetoric.

Flow you have asked plenty of valid questions.  Unfortunately, I will not attempt to answer them as the answers are not as simple as one may think or would like them to be. However here is a short excerpt on some pertinent material, I found on the net.  But before I post it I have to share some more of my thoughts/feelings with you.

I can say that from my studies and practice over the years I have learned and developed an almost surefire way to achieve successful outcomes.  I preface my answer with almost because results will vary contigent on the 'mindset' of the person amongst other various factors.   Just as person who wishes to become a doctor or a lawyer, steps must be taken to achieve those goals.    One can not wake up one morning and say, " I am a doctor/lawyer today."  No, that is not the way it functions.  While somemay have a strong natural ability to do these things in general, most will not ever be able to just wake up a be, x, y, or z.

Life is a series of opportunities to learn, develope, and cultivate what we desire.  Whether we act conciously or not (sometime we find ourselves unsure as to why we desire certain things but we just KNOW that we do, no thinking is required.)  or with a goal or not, each moment is passing and creating a new you, yet a part of you still remains the same.    I hope you can see it in your mind as I do, although assuredly, we may be seeing the same thing, differently in  a symbolic language that each one of us can intimately understand.

Sadly, in these times we find ourselves in, even the most beneficial of lessons have often been tainted with racism or discrimanatory biases.   (Credit is often not given to people who knew of these things and whose societies at one point manifested and reflected these lessons in nearly every facet imaginable.)   The ancients understood this way of knowing as the "Intelligence of the Heart."  (Most google hits were off the mark but not all)

One the plus side, all has not been lost.  We are here and we can think and feel.  Modern advances have allowed us to communicate despite vast distances but even good things have their opportunity costs.

Ultimately, you will have to answer your own questions to your own satisfaction and liking but I assure you that, "He who seeks, shall find."  It may sound cliche but that does not take away from its intrinsic value.

The Future of Intelligence
As our understanding of human intelligence develops perhaps we will see other factors emerge in addition to emotion. The Eastern model of the psyche is much more holistic than the Western model, which is based on Cartesian dualism. In yoga philosophy there is no real separation between mind and body, between consciousness and matter; consciousness is a continuum which pervades the entire body and even extends beyond it. This consciousness is thought to be concentrated in seven psychic centres which have their own intelligence and govern different areas of our being. The centres are believed to interact with one another, rather than just being controlled by the tyranny of the brain. Recent research into the workings of the human body has shown that the heart independently releases biochemical signals which effect the brain, and that the sacrum at the base of the spine is like a second brain. Through the unifying force of the Kundalini the yogi can experience many different aspects of intelligence which science may yet discover. Firstly the wisdom of the base centre, which seems to come from a connection with the earth and its Gaia principle (Rupert Sheldrake’s revival of the ancient idea that the planet has its own intelligence). The artistic creativity of the second centre, is suggested by the words of the sculptor Rodin: “There are unknown forces within nature; when we give ourselves wholly to her, without reserve, she leads them to us; she shows us those forms which our watching eyes do not see, which our intelligence does not understand or suspect”. Then there is the ‘gut’ intelligence of the stomach centre; the EI of the heart centre; the collective, communicative i)ntelligence of the throat centre (many heads are better than one). The intellect and vision of the brow centre, tend to be inhibited by our ego and conditioning. An important aspect of intelligence is the ability to see things from another person’s perspective and to think laterally. Intellectual arrogance limits our vision and causes a disabling ignorance. The philosopher Simone Veil said that “real genius is nothing but the supernatural virtue of humility in the domain of thought”. Finally the still mostly untapped, super conscious intelligence of the Sahasrara (crown centre) where the Self in the heart is realised.

Emphasis here

It has been said that the next phase of human evolution will depend upon a decline in egoistical competitiveness and an increase in collectivity, not in the form of totalitarianism, but as an expanded sense of self. The psychoanalyst Otto Rank predicted that “creativity and mysticism... will become the foundation of the new psychological type and with him or her will come the new civilisation”. The levels of cooperation required in the future may mean that EI and other forms of intelligence such as creativity and self-transcendance, will be valued over the intelligence measured by IQ tests. An intelligence centred in the heart is centred in the Self and therefore has a superhuman, trans-personal connection; the next phase of evolution, with its enormous challenges and increasing load of information, will require an integrated intelligence with access to the infinite.

By no means is this the full answer but just a taste of the potential that exist.   Not all knowledge comes from books or labs.

I am a sucker for love.

Here is some additional information.  It is a bit more my speed and from a more familiar school of thought for me.   Although, again, I must note, this is not total or final.    This is, again, a sample of the potential that exists out/in there.

http://www.tehutionline.com/newpage10.htm

The cerebral organ operates in stages. The first stage consists of your five senses. The senses acknowledge and record observations. The second stage consists of your memory. The memory compares the recorded ideas.  The third stage is reason, which operates on a different level and will be dealt with later for the sake of clarity.

The senses are the organs we use to become aware of the principle elements. Touch belongs to the Earth element. Taste belongs to the water element. Smell belongs to the air element. Sight belongs to the fire element. Our senses are not aware of an activity until they can oppose it with resistance of a similar nature. Our ability to touch or physically feel things lets us become aware of everything that forms a material obstacle to the body. Touch is the Earth element. Our ability to taste is only possible when something is slightly dissolved. Taste is the Water element. Our ability to smell requires the object is either naturally volatile or made so by some other agency such as heat. Smell is the Air element. Our capacity for sight requires an invisible radiance in the subject. (Ordinary fire has heat that belongs to touch and not sight. As a baby our sight induced an attraction to fire until we touched and therefore experienced the heat of the flame.)  Sight is the Fire element. The fifth sense, hearing, is physically tangible through sound. Our hearing is the door to the intelligence of the heart. Whereas the first four senses naturally pass directly through the brain and are therefore cerebral, hearing naturally passes through the heart without speaking to the brain.

The great minds of Western culture call this magic. Placing oblique or negative labels on all activity that can possibly put you on the path of true knowledge is a continuation of the negative governmental/religious/societal practices of the european Dark Ages. The Renaissance did not end that horrific period of torture and mind control. It was actually the signal moment that their cruelties were unleashed on the entire world. Make no mistake about it; western society is still in the Dark Ages. It is our duty, our sacred duty to our ancestors to raise ourselves out of the darkness to the best of our understanding and ability. The reason for the atrocities can be explained very simply. The powers that be used violence to establish a new connection. Hearing has been forced to pass through the brain. We’re still in the Dark Ages. If the term “The Matrix” were used instead of the Dark Ages would it make more sense?

The seven principles of Tehuti teach us that everything has vibration. Everything has its own sound. The scientific viewpoint and all of its instrumentation transforms the principle elements (or the five senses) and reduces them to the spheres of our cerebral intelligence. We attempt to communicate with life through the five senses. There are aspects of Fire, Air, Earth, and Water that the five senses block. Considering that there are sound waves we cannot hear and light waves we cannot see. It should be reasonable to admit the possibility of a world interpenetrating all aspects of the things we can perceive. This world can also be composed of exactly the same principle elements operating on a vibration outside of our current ability to perceive. We only have to expand the sensitivity of our five senses to experience this world. The capability of the hearing faculty encourages us to believe in a larger more ideal state that corresponds to principle forms.

It is a fact that we all have within us the ability to conceive of abstractions that the cerebral intelligence cannot understand. This is a demonstration of the existence of worlds parallel to ours. Cerebral intelligence is limited by the strict boundaries accepted by the five senses. The intelligence of the heart is free of these boundaries and belongs to the larger complex of life. Fundamentally, cerebral intelligence is trapped in the concept of duality. We know quality only through the opposing actions of duality. Abstract ideas are discussed by limiting their qualities. We can be satisfied with words but when you try to break it down you begin to limit the abstraction. What is the meaning of horizon, love, skin or any other word? You know you “know” what it means. Our cerebral ability comes to a halt if we cannot make them objective. We will never understand it or be able to communicate its meaning until it is made concrete and then we’ve established limitations. A good example is the word “axis.” Every rotating body revolves on its axis yet science teaches that the axis is imaginary. The axis exists! The axis is real! Science is cerebral and tries to ignore the axis because it can’t make it objective. The best definition science can arrive at is to label axis imaginary because it’s beyond the grasp of cerebral intelligence.

The innate intelligence of the heart is that aspect of all people that allows us to penetrate beyond the confines of the cerebral intelligence of the brain. The extent to which we can become one with NTR is a function of awakening the innate intelligence of the heart.

Every natural object in the universe is an example of divinity. Each animal type, species of plant, and each mineral group is a stage in the process of becoming aware of the Cosmic Cause. The Cosmic Cause is a language in itself. It is expressed in its living function, it is the basis of innate intelligence, it is related to all of nature and it knows nature in the deepest sense. This level of knowledge cannot be objectified and it is real. Experiencing this level of reality is a fusion of consciousness and object to create a separate identity. This fusion of living function is an experience innate to the intelligence of the heart. Our understanding of this process can be communicated to our cerebral intelligence by establishing a relationship between the life in us and observation of that life in Nature. The supreme wisdom of the people of KMT did this so well that we call it magic. They understood the relationships and knew how to manipulate the relationships between the consciousness of their surroundings and the consciousness of the heart.

The two types of intelligence have given us two aspects of consciousness. One is the result of comparisons and is cerebral. The other is a process of identification and is innate and vital.

Mobile-friendly version Immortal Technique Biography

Born Felipe Andres Coronel on the 19th of February 1978, hip-hop artist Immortal Technique is a controversial figure in the U.S. His songs speak of the need for social justice and equality among all races, with special emphasis on the people of color or Latin Americans, but they also cover topics such as the fight against unfair imprisonments or militarism and many others.

His biography is hence quite intriguing, to say the least, and, just like the best anti aging cream is probably going to be lingering over the shelves of all cosmetic stores for many years to come, Immortal Technique’s songs are going to remain hot, fresh and sought after for a really long time. Due to the fact they speak about topics which are to be considered taboos, his lyrics continue to be listened to with the exterior shutters down in most homes.

Immortal technique was born in Peru, in El Hospital Militar de Lima; several years later, his family moved to America in order to escape the harsh living conditions in Peru. Even though they could not afford to buy any terrain a vendre there, they managed to move to Harlem in the ‘80s. Immortal Technique went to Hunter High School, but just like a hip replacement recall is never of good omen, his grades and behavior weren’t any good during high school either. He was the school bully, he harassed other students and he was not afraid to get involved in scandals with drug dealers from around the area. And while his interactions with these drug dealers were not as numerous as used cars in Phoenix are, they still managed to leave an ugly mark on his biography.

Plus, his graffiti did not actually resemble any Dreamweaver templates, but he was famous for his controversial acts of vandalism. His violence against others almost got him expelled in 1996, but he somehow managed to finish high school and even attend college at Pennsylvania State University. This time, his college experience only lasted for two years; he was then charged and convicted and he was eventually imprisoned in Pennsylvania.

In prison, just like a SEO San Antonio company would focus on booting a web site’s ranking, Immortal Technique also focused on boosting his own social ranking. He began studying the policy of religious history, and, finding the inspiration he needed, he began putting his thoughts in lyrics. In 1999 he was paroled and, even though he was first considered some sort of Agen Bola, as no one had heard of him at first, he began to attend freestyle battles he started winning.

From there on, his career started to bloom, as he gave birth to albums such as “Revolutionary Vol 1” in 2002, “Revolutionary Vol 2” in 2004 and “Revolutionary Vol 3” in 2008. He also became a political activist and started to sing about political injustice (check out his opinion on the imprisonment of Mumia Abu-Jamal or the songs on George W. Bush). Despite of the fact that his albums might not have gotten the type of positive reviews African mango reviews are usually comprised of, this has not stopped him from getting involved in future projects, including an important film collaboration. He might not approve the work of the CNA Financial Corporation, but we all need to eat, right?

Recently I've been in the market for used cars. Which I'm sure many of you know how long that process can take. Having to go from dealer to dealer and look at one car after another. What a painstaking process! Its a good thing I don't have to take a personality test after the whole process. I'm sure I'd have some pretty skewed results. After finally settling down and buying a new Audi A4, I found out I had a bigger problem on my hands. Where am I gonna park the car during winter? I decided I had to contact a local contractor and get remodeling estimates to redo our garage which had been having problems with leaks all last winter. After getting some rather expensive estimates back from contractors our family finally decided to move to a different area of New York, we took a look at jamestown ny homes which was recommended by a close friend of mine. Have you ever just had that feeling after looking at a town? You just knew it was the one. Well thankfully we had a lot of wonderful homes to look at that were priced perfectly. We eventually decided to go with a home with a nice garage for the new car, a gym witih a full pull up bar, and best of all my wife could stop taking her proactol and finally begin to use our at home gym!

If during your trip you make it out to England be sure to say "Hi!" to our friends that is a wedding photographer york. They do an exceptional job and we recommend them to everyone that we know!
When overlooking your home don't forget the key essentials to tie in the whole room and complete it altogether, such as a POS software to manage your point of sale units. Making the perfect home for everyone in your family is doable with the right budget. Start by heading to auction sites to see what type of homes are currently on the market and the prices. Auction sites provide a medium to determine market value of homes in the are that you are looking at. Now I know you are probably thinking that's trivial, although choosing the right handbag to take with you on a lengthy trip around the world is of the utmost importance. Make sure that you take as little as possibly needed on the trip. You don't want to lug around suitcases, and unnecessary stuff throughout the world. It'll weigh down on your trip, no pun intended.
The History and Growth of Rap Music

If you are a music enthusiast, then it is very likely that you have come across a genre of music called rap music. Rap music is area that has very clear distinguishing features most notably the rapid and rhythmic chanting of the lyrics perfectly timed to the beat and musical accompaniment that forms the base of the song. Rap music traces its roots to the development of the hiphop subculture which predominantly carries four complementary musical styles namely: rapping, dancing and in particular break dancing, scratching or more popularity known as DJing, and graffiti writing which others dub as vandalism. Another sub-element of this genre is beat-boxing which also features heavily in the repertoire of many rap artists. If you thought this was an easy musical genre to characterize, then you were poorly informed: consider, many research papers and doctoral dissertations have been written on the subject of rap music and its accompanying stylistic elements.

The history of rap music, or hip-hop music, is composed of a series of rapid development phases that have all culminated in the popular rap versions of today. Before rap music took off in the 1990s, it was predominantly referred to as disco rap in the late 1970s. The three rappers who had a hand in coining the term “rap music” were DJ Hollywood, Lovebug Starski, and Keith Cowboy, the last one being officially credited with the term hip-hop. Rap music original began with improvisations and freestyle singing to add an element of unpredictability to the songs in parties and other gatherings. Even in the 1960s to 1970s, the initial elements of rap music where already sown in urban subcultures particularly in New York City where adhoc performances in the streets led to a coalescing of influences in the wake of the Civil Rights era. Like the iPhone 5 release date, it had a slow and steady rise building into an explosion of creativity and style that has made it into what it has become today.

At this very early stage of rap development, it was particularly tied to emcee-ing more than it was associated to any specific song. It predominantly tied songs together as an adlib in between. It was born out of the creative inputs of DJs who had to work with self-imposed musical constraints such as the 4/4 time beat and sampling or sequencing sections of other songs to create a smooth flow of uninterrupted musical stimuli. These were eventually married with electronic equipment such as drums and synthesizers, and ultimate melodies to give it that bite and identity. In a sense, rap music artists were basically like a video game designer who had to figure out each artistic component at every turn until it developed into a more coherent musical genre that became the rap music we know today.

The first recorded version of rap music came alive in the early 1980s when DJs decided to make records out of their freestyle MCing. This necessitated the documentation of song lyrics so they do not change during each and every rendition. The age of the stromanbieter for rap music was gone paving the way for more organized chaos. Still, the freestyle and improvisation element remained a part of many DJ interludes as the song goes through certain sections that did not require too much rap singing.

Likewise, as a consequence of the hip-hop records, the influence of rap began to spread faster than ever before. Artists no longer had to travel far to get their music heard. Now, records from New York City and Philadelphia can be reproduced and transported to cities like Los Angeles, New Orleans, Dallas, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Seattle among others for people to appreciate and enjoy. This was primarily the reason for rap music’s rapid growth. Like Christmas mini lights, cities formed the nodes through which rap music would spread to other parts of the country. From small beginnings to grand achievements, the birth certificate translation to true stardom took a matter of years for rap music to be realized. Since then, its take-off and rise has been meteoric.

In this regard, it is almost impossible to talk about rap music but not discuss the golden age of rap. This was the era from the late 1980s to the mid 1990s when rap grew at an astounding rate fueled by the creative contributions of many artists from all over the continental United States and in many parts of the world. The primary trait of the Golden Age or Rap was that it was an almost unbroken wave of transformative music with every single pushing the boundaries of the genre. From this age and in the succeeding Gansta Rap age came names like Run-D.M.C., Dr. Dre, Ice T, MC Hammer, The Wu-tang Clan, Snoop Dogg, and The Notorious B.I.G. among others. The list of names can virtually fill a Sharepoint Hive without any problems.

According to social studies published in 2005, teenagers and children are more familiar with hip-hop and rap music more than any other musical genre. Up to 65% of all children from ages 8 to 18 hear hip-hop music on a daily basis, making it their routinary keratin hair treatment session, almost to the point that it has become an intrinsic part of their lives. With the diversification of the genre to include the more stylish R&B or rhythm and blues, it is not difficult to explain how rap music has continued to pervade radio station, TV and movie song line-ups. The marriage of rap and jazz which paved the way for R&B is itself a phenomenon that warrants all sorts of social analysis.

And with its very strong following, it is safe to say that rap music is here to stay. Years from now, when you open your TV on a bright Saturday morning, there’s a big chance you would be watching the next stage in the evolution of rap music, and there’s an even better chance you would be dancing or singing to that tune.

Immortal Technique Rapper Biography

Immortal technique is the stage name for which rapper Felipe Andres Coronel is popularly known. His lyrics characterized by its unique mixture of socialist commentary of social class hierarchy, religion, wealth, poverty to contemporary issues touching on governmental and institutional racism. Perhaps you may have come across information about this popular icon as you undertake research for that mba online, or for whatever course you are undertaking, be it bachelors in criminal justice, performing arts degree, governance systems, online nurse practitioner programs, history, or any other course for which you have to do online research.

The rapper was born on the 19th day of February 1978 in Lima, Peru. During the internal conflicts that took place in their country at the time, his parents migrated to Harlem, New York. Probably, in the process of migration to the country, they may have used boats at least once in the journey. Like many American teenagers, the rapper was engaged in various acts against the law that led to his arrest several times, which in one his public interviews admitted that they were selfish and at best childish acts. After completing his incarceration terms, he took up a political science course in a bid to mend his seemingly torn life, while living with his father.

After completing his studies, he was not lucky enough to secure a job in his field of study owing to the unemployment situation prevailing in the entire United States. Like many American fresh graduates who take up it jobs, nursing jobs, waiter and nursing jobs among many other common jobs that may not necessarily need a specialist, he took up a working in a restaurant to earn a buck from which he could live on.
