DON KING has thrown a jab into the ribs of mixed martial arts, describing the sport as "barbarism".

The legendary boxing promoter was at Madison Square Garden on Saturday evening to host the showdown between Roy Jones Jr and Felix 'Tito' Trinidad.

On the same night, UFC80: Rapid Fire in the UK was also attracting a large chunk of the US pay-per-view audience.

Asked for his opinion of MMA, King said: "I think it's great. I think mixed martial arts is original."

But King went on to explain: "It's barbarism."

With a trademark flurry of words, the 76-year-old who has enjoyed four decades at the top of the fight game, claimed that MMA is a step backwards compared to the "beauty" of present day boxing.

King said: "This is what the Marquess of Queensberry came to uplift by making rules and regulations.

"It won't be long before they'll be crying barbarism again.

"If people are thinking quality is blood and guts, that they want to go out and see guys get knocked out of the building...

"Well, in the olden days they were feeding Christians to the lions. Then they had the gladiators.

"Later, you had fighters who would go 50 rounds, there was no such thing as going to a decision, you were going for a knockout.

"So then people became more civilised, more sophisticated, and that's how you got the beauty that is boxing."

Asked what he would say to those who claim boxing has lost its competitive edge and is not as popular as it once was, he smiled: "Well I say to them, 'Oh ye of little faith. Get thee behind me Satan!

"You've got to understand something. Boxing, right now, is an equal opportunity sport. Especially now as you have no heroes.

"Why do I say that? I say that because anybody can be the champion. We don't even know who the champion is, we don't have heroes right now.

"And why don't we have heroes? Because our fighters became business boxers, rather than boxers of business. They all became the businessmen they wanted to be without fighting for glory and pride.

"Pride will prevail. When it's all over, you can try to hide it, you can be like an ostrich and bury your head in the sand.

"But when a person competes for the pride, integrity and honour of his competition, it is incidental that he should be paid.

"You don't have to trade in one for the other. You don't have to show greed and avarice and mercenary qualities in order to be good.

"Be good and you're gonna have the money."

i found this comment the most accurate

Quote
The only thing Don King doesn't like about MMA is that HE isn't the Prime Time promoter of that sport

please note that i NEVER read this trash of a paper, on swear yo, my friend sent me this.

also, does anyone else HATE it when you ask someone about mma and they say "whats that? " to which you say "UFC" and all of a sudden they an expert.

i noticed that even MSN just call the sport UFC, fucking bullshit to me.

oh yeah BJ all the WAY. fuck sherk hes just a punk who couldn't hack it at his own weight and thinks cutting down like 50lbs will make him look good, bah.

Mir looks heavy, last time he was what 20 lbs lighter?
I think he'll pull off a sub but wouldnt it be hilarious if Lesnar gets a 1st round tko?

Nog has got to win, for the sake of mma, he's the only one keeping pride 'alive' right now. I dont know though, Sylvia is huge and pretty much equal on the feet if not better. His takedown defense isnt too bad either and look at the weight difference, I dont see it going to the ground that easily, where Nog will of course fuck him up.

Griffin - Tibau is gonna be fight of the night, insanely strong guys for lw.
Eastman - Martin is gonna be crazy, Marvin got spit in his face ffs..
Cant wait either man..

I gained a lot of respect for Lesnar after this fight.  He will be a force once he gets more BJJ practice.  He almost had Mir KO'd.  Had he not hit him in the back of the head, he would have won the fight by TKO.

ja man he did pretty good, i hope he still gets another shot, like i said i just want guys like him to win. but jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa man i thot that was a pretty daamn good card altogether.

was almost in tears in the 1st, mate is sleeping next to me andc im near enuff screaming " NOOOOOOOOOOOO NOG fucking fucking him up please". i loved it man, great stuff and signs of his true skills, and i fully believe that some form of "conditioningz" is required to take a punch good. the take down was beautiful man, but that reminds me.

DID YOU SEE THE BOETSCH TAKEDOWN....can you say BRUTAL? just grab him by the head and throw him down, shit was comedy man.

however, back to basking in nogs glory cuz that was lovely work. like i said the takedown was quick, effective and different, in the sense of that fight. then the sweep was top quality and once again quicker than a cat. and the transition ontop to side mount was just amazing, man i have always thot he was thge man BIG TIME.

if randy does come back that would be cool, tho naturally (pun intended), i have to say Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria, aka Big Nog, aka Minotauro aka THE MUTHAFUCKING CHAMP
fedor?..ssssh

frank mir did good aswell, tho its clear by lesners dominence that neither of these men stand a chance at he current UFC interim World heavyweight champion  *claps* Antonio Rodrigo "minotauro" Nogueria.

almeida was also another cool submision and yes as rogan said "props to rob undt for taken the fight on such short notice" 3 DAYS MAN, crazy.

Lesnar shows superstar potential in loss
By Dave Meltzer, Yahoo! Sports
February 3, 2008

LAS VEGAS – If you knew ahead of time that former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir would submit former pro wrestling superstar Brock Lesnar in 90 seconds, you’d think Lesnar was a one-time gimmick and would never be heard from again.

But after one of the most exciting 90-second fights in UFC history, most of the talk after the match was about Lesnar’s potential to be one of the most dominant heavyweights in mixed martial arts history.

Lesnar exploded out of the blocks, with two takedowns, powerful punches on the ground and even a knockdown standing as he dominated all but the closing seconds of the match. But in the end, experience won out as Lesnar powered out of an armbar, but left his leg exposed. Mir, expecting Lesnar’s response, snatched the leg, securing a kneebar and forcing the former NCAA champion to tap out.

“I expected him to be strong, but I didn’t expect him to be as fast as he was,” said Mir. “One second he was on my right, then he was on my left. That second armbar I tried works 99 percent of the time in practice except against the most experienced guys.”

Lesnar is a former NCAA heavyweight wrestling champion and a former World Wrestling Entertainment superstar. To the near sellout crowd of 10,583 fans at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, it was almost like one of the story lines from Lesnar's WWE days.

Lesnar was the outsider, representing pro wrestling. Mir, a Las Vegas native who had never been more popular, and to the fans in the arena, the defender of the UFC. Lesnar entered the building to jeers. But after losing, his performance won the fans over and he was heavily cheered, gaining what appeared to be full acceptance in a new sport.

Mir said he thought Lesnar would use his wrestling to keep the fight standing, and avoiding Mir’s strength, which is submissions while on his back. But in throwing a kick, he got Lesnar to revert to his natural instincts and take him to the ground.

That strategy didn’t look so smart at first. Lesnar began pounding Mir with rapid and scary sledgehammer-like blows to the head, and quickly moving position so Mir couldn’t put up a defense. In what may have been a key moment, while being pounded, Mir turned his head, the natural response to avoid being punched in the face. Lesnar, in his inexperience, continued his aggressive punching. With a blow to the back of the head, referee Steve Mazzagatti stopped the fight, and took a point away from Lesnar for the foul, giving Mir a needed reprieve.

Mir was taking such a beating that when he raised Lesnar’s hand, to point to the judges for the foul, most fans thought the match was being stopped and Lesnar was the winner.

When it was restarted, Lesnar scored with a hard right that put Lesnar down. As he kept punching, Mir started moving for a submission. Lesnar allowed Mir to get to his feet, but then took him down again. As Mir tried for a second armbar, Lesnar escaped and left his foot behind. Mir grabbed it with everything he had, forcing the huge wrestler to tap out.

Lesnar was frustrated, noting much of his training was based on cardio, which never came into play in such a short fight, and in defending against submissions.

“I just stepped out a little too late,” he said.

Lesnar, 1-1, noted that he’s spent so much time building his cardio for his two fights, and between the two, still hasn’t had three minutes of total ring time.

“There’s no shame in losing,” he said. “I lost my first amateur wrestling match as a kid. My coach told me when I was wanting to quit, that you first have to lose before you learn how not to lose. I don’t like to lose so I have to learn not to lose in this sport.”

Some of the biggest modern pro wrestling stars were ringside for the fight, including “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Kurt Angle, The Undertaker and John “Bradshaw” Layfield. While Lesnar was aware the fans saw him as the outsider representing pro wrestling against MMA, he never saw it that way.

“Obviously I’m disappointed, but it was a great experience,” he said. "I must have worked on defending that leglock 1,000 times maybe. I thought I was going to get out."

UFC officials were thrilled by the match and buzzing over Lesnar’s potential in the sport.

“I’m here for as long as I can fight here,” Lesnar said. “I love what I’m doing. The company has been great.”

UFC fans got the outcome they wanted, as UFC is based on the idea that a smaller man can beat a stronger foe through superior skill and technique. But when it was over, they accepted Lesnar based on the potential he showed. Mir, 11-3, with the win is back in the mix with the group’s top heavyweights, revitalizing a career that just a few months ago appeared on its last legs as he hadn’t made a full recovery from a broken leg in a motorcycle accident.

Mir said when he was on the back, he kept thinking about movement, figuring as long as he kept moving, the match wouldn’t be stopped even though he was the recipient of heavy punches.

Lesnar earned $250,000 as his base pay. Mir got $140,000, a combination of both his contracted pay and a $60,000 bonus for the night’s best submission.

This is going to be a WAR!!!!!  I think Hendo will take him down repeatedly, however, he has to move into Silva's range in order to get that takedown, which is the most dangerous proposition in MMA at the moment.

Cant wait, this is just too close too call. If Hendo manages to avoid Silvas clinch and do his greco roman thing I think Hendo has the edge on the feet. I have no idea how he will deal with Andersons guard though. Other than that I have a hard time visualizing this fight, both are that good.

Pretty solid card all around, should be great.

Anderson Silva is the greatest MM Artist in the game right now, and arguably, of all time.  All in all this was a decent card.  Tanner got KTFO'd, there were some questionable stoppages (Kos's fight and Fitch's fight).  Speaking of Fitch, when he gets a title shot he is going to get destroyed.  Herring Kongo was a sleeper even though Kongo's takedown game did impress me.

Mark Coleman’s (15-8 MMA, 6-3 UFC) induction into the UFC Hall of Fame came with an interesting footnote: he’s returning to the UFC to fight Brock Lesnar (1-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) in August.

Mobile-friendly version Immortal Technique Biography

Born Felipe Andres Coronel on the 19th of February 1978, hip-hop artist Immortal Technique is a controversial figure in the U.S. His songs speak of the need for social justice and equality among all races, with special emphasis on the people of color or Latin Americans, but they also cover topics such as the fight against unfair imprisonments or militarism and many others.

His biography is hence quite intriguing, to say the least, and, just like the best anti aging cream is probably going to be lingering over the shelves of all cosmetic stores for many years to come, Immortal Technique’s songs are going to remain hot, fresh and sought after for a really long time. Due to the fact they speak about topics which are to be considered taboos, his lyrics continue to be listened to with the exterior shutters down in most homes.

Immortal technique was born in Peru, in El Hospital Militar de Lima; several years later, his family moved to America in order to escape the harsh living conditions in Peru. Even though they could not afford to buy any terrain a vendre there, they managed to move to Harlem in the ‘80s. Immortal Technique went to Hunter High School, but just like a hip replacement recall is never of good omen, his grades and behavior weren’t any good during high school either. He was the school bully, he harassed other students and he was not afraid to get involved in scandals with drug dealers from around the area. And while his interactions with these drug dealers were not as numerous as used cars in Phoenix are, they still managed to leave an ugly mark on his biography.

Plus, his graffiti did not actually resemble any Dreamweaver templates, but he was famous for his controversial acts of vandalism. His violence against others almost got him expelled in 1996, but he somehow managed to finish high school and even attend college at Pennsylvania State University. This time, his college experience only lasted for two years; he was then charged and convicted and he was eventually imprisoned in Pennsylvania.

In prison, just like a SEO San Antonio company would focus on booting a web site’s ranking, Immortal Technique also focused on boosting his own social ranking. He began studying the policy of religious history, and, finding the inspiration he needed, he began putting his thoughts in lyrics. In 1999 he was paroled and, even though he was first considered some sort of Agen Bola, as no one had heard of him at first, he began to attend freestyle battles he started winning.

From there on, his career started to bloom, as he gave birth to albums such as “Revolutionary Vol 1” in 2002, “Revolutionary Vol 2” in 2004 and “Revolutionary Vol 3” in 2008. He also became a political activist and started to sing about political injustice (check out his opinion on the imprisonment of Mumia Abu-Jamal or the songs on George W. Bush). Despite of the fact that his albums might not have gotten the type of positive reviews African mango reviews are usually comprised of, this has not stopped him from getting involved in future projects, including an important film collaboration. He might not approve the work of the CNA Financial Corporation, but we all need to eat, right?

Recently I've been in the market for used cars. Which I'm sure many of you know how long that process can take. Having to go from dealer to dealer and look at one car after another. What a painstaking process! Its a good thing I don't have to take a personality test after the whole process. I'm sure I'd have some pretty skewed results. After finally settling down and buying a new Audi A4, I found out I had a bigger problem on my hands. Where am I gonna park the car during winter? I decided I had to contact a local contractor and get remodeling estimates to redo our garage which had been having problems with leaks all last winter. After getting some rather expensive estimates back from contractors our family finally decided to move to a different area of New York, we took a look at jamestown ny homes which was recommended by a close friend of mine. Have you ever just had that feeling after looking at a town? You just knew it was the one. Well thankfully we had a lot of wonderful homes to look at that were priced perfectly. We eventually decided to go with a home with a nice garage for the new car, a gym witih a full pull up bar, and best of all my wife could stop taking her proactol and finally begin to use our at home gym!

If during your trip you make it out to England be sure to say "Hi!" to our friends that is a wedding photographer york. They do an exceptional job and we recommend them to everyone that we know!
When overlooking your home don't forget the key essentials to tie in the whole room and complete it altogether, such as a POS software to manage your point of sale units. Making the perfect home for everyone in your family is doable with the right budget. Start by heading to auction sites to see what type of homes are currently on the market and the prices. Auction sites provide a medium to determine market value of homes in the are that you are looking at. If traveling internationally and looking at homes in Drakensberg then be sure to look online for Drakensberg accommodation. Drakensbergs accomodations often come with coffee machine in your room as well! For us caffeine lovers, you know how important that is when traveling in a new city. What often begins with a worldwide traveling excursion often ends in an unknown city. If you are planning on traveling to far away places its best to do your research on them before venturing out. Planning how to pack, and what to bring with you from the beginning can make the difference altogether. Planning on which handbag to take is crucial to your happiness. Now I know you are probably thinking that's trivial, although choosing the right handbag to take with you on a lengthy trip around the world is of the utmost importance. Make sure that you take as little as possibly needed on the trip. You don't want to lug around suitcases, and unnecessary stuff throughout the world. It'll weigh down on your trip, no pun intended.
The History and Growth of Rap Music

If you are a music enthusiast, then it is very likely that you have come across a genre of music called rap music. Rap music is area that has very clear distinguishing features most notably the rapid and rhythmic chanting of the lyrics perfectly timed to the beat and musical accompaniment that forms the base of the song. Rap music traces its roots to the development of the hiphop subculture which predominantly carries four complementary musical styles namely: rapping, dancing and in particular break dancing, scratching or more popularity known as DJing, and graffiti writing which others dub as vandalism. Another sub-element of this genre is beat-boxing which also features heavily in the repertoire of many rap artists. If you thought this was an easy musical genre to characterize, then you were poorly informed: consider, many research papers and doctoral dissertations have been written on the subject of rap music and its accompanying stylistic elements.

The history of rap music, or hip-hop music, is composed of a series of rapid development phases that have all culminated in the popular rap versions of today. Before rap music took off in the 1990s, it was predominantly referred to as disco rap in the late 1970s. The three rappers who had a hand in coining the term “rap music” were DJ Hollywood, Lovebug Starski, and Keith Cowboy, the last one being officially credited with the term hip-hop. Rap music original began with improvisations and freestyle singing to add an element of unpredictability to the songs in parties and other gatherings. Even in the 1960s to 1970s, the initial elements of rap music where already sown in urban subcultures particularly in New York City where adhoc performances in the streets led to a coalescing of influences in the wake of the Civil Rights era. Like the iPhone 5 release date, it had a slow and steady rise building into an explosion of creativity and style that has made it into what it has become today.

At this very early stage of rap development, it was particularly tied to emcee-ing more than it was associated to any specific song. It predominantly tied songs together as an adlib in between. It was born out of the creative inputs of DJs who had to work with self-imposed musical constraints such as the 4/4 time beat and sampling or sequencing sections of other songs to create a smooth flow of uninterrupted musical stimuli. These were eventually married with electronic equipment such as drums and synthesizers, and ultimate melodies to give it that bite and identity. In a sense, rap music artists were basically like a video game designer who had to figure out each artistic component at every turn until it developed into a more coherent musical genre that became the rap music we know today.

The first recorded version of rap music came alive in the early 1980s when DJs decided to make records out of their freestyle MCing. This necessitated the documentation of song lyrics so they do not change during each and every rendition. The age of the stromanbieter for rap music was gone paving the way for more organized chaos. Still, the freestyle and improvisation element remained a part of many DJ interludes as the song goes through certain sections that did not require too much rap singing.

Likewise, as a consequence of the hip-hop records, the influence of rap began to spread faster than ever before. Artists no longer had to travel far to get their music heard. Now, records from New York City and Philadelphia can be reproduced and transported to cities like Los Angeles, New Orleans, Dallas, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Seattle among others for people to appreciate and enjoy. This was primarily the reason for rap music’s rapid growth. Like Christmas mini lights, cities formed the nodes through which rap music would spread to other parts of the country. From small beginnings to grand achievements, the birth certificate translation to true stardom took a matter of years for rap music to be realized. Since then, its take-off and rise has been meteoric.

In this regard, it is almost impossible to talk about rap music but not discuss the golden age of rap. This was the era from the late 1980s to the mid 1990s when rap grew at an astounding rate fueled by the creative contributions of many artists from all over the continental United States and in many parts of the world. The primary trait of the Golden Age or Rap was that it was an almost unbroken wave of transformative music with every single pushing the boundaries of the genre. From this age and in the succeeding Gansta Rap age came names like Run-D.M.C., Dr. Dre, Ice T, MC Hammer, The Wu-tang Clan, Snoop Dogg, and The Notorious B.I.G. among others. The list of names can virtually fill a Sharepoint Hive without any problems.

According to social studies published in 2005, teenagers and children are more familiar with hip-hop and rap music more than any other musical genre. Up to 65% of all children from ages 8 to 18 hear hip-hop music on a daily basis, making it their routinary keratin hair treatment session, almost to the point that it has become an intrinsic part of their lives. With the diversification of the genre to include the more stylish R&B or rhythm and blues, it is not difficult to explain how rap music has continued to pervade radio station, TV and movie song line-ups. The marriage of rap and jazz which paved the way for R&B is itself a phenomenon that warrants all sorts of social analysis.

And with its very strong following, it is safe to say that rap music is here to stay. Years from now, when you open your TV on a bright Saturday morning, there’s a big chance you would be watching the next stage in the evolution of rap music, and there’s an even better chance you would be dancing or singing to that tune.
