I see Silva winning by KO...but
except maybe overhand right.

You can never count Chuck out because of that right hand. He loves swinging it and always has the chance to land that one big punch that could end the fight.

i agree, i just hope silva doesn't charge in like he did with crocop. besides a fluke chance silva has chuck in almost every dept. plus if you consider taht the clinch is not that widely used in UFC, if silva gets them hooks in, it could be goodnight for the iceman.

i wanna say silva by knees

Silva by vicious knee strike.

Can we talk about the rest of this card?  I am PSYCHED for this thing.

Matt Hughes vs. GSP

GSP via brutal ground and pound or standing KO.  Hughes has ZERO chance IMO.

Chuck vs. Wand

Wand via brutal clinch knee to jaw.

Machida v. Sokoudjou

Sokoudjou via KO.  He has a ground game too.  My former instructor trains him and the instructor says that sokoudjou is legit on the ground.  Machida is some karate throw back who does NOT have KO power.  This one will be fast.

Rich Clementi Vs. Melvin Guillard
If Melvin doesn't get caught in a submission he should win.

Soa Palelei Vs. Eddie Sanchez
i am going with Palelei as Sanchez has ZERO cardio as evidenced in his embarrassing loss to cro-cop.

Luis Cane Vs. James Irvin
Irvin will win and if he doesn't he will get injured in the process like in every other UFC fight he has had.  I don't know why they keep bringing him back...

Nate Mohr Vs. Manny Gamburyan
Manny by GnP.

Jordan Radev Vs. Dean Lister

Lister via RNC

Thoughts?

Agree mostly, though I'm not sure about Sokoudjou winning that easily, Machida is one elusive mothafucka.
Not 100% sure about GSP - Hughes either, more 80% ish, Hughes is still very strong on the ground.

Hughes is not going to beat GSP on the ground.  GSP is a BJJ blackbelt now AND he can stuff Hughes takedowns, as evidenced in the last "fight".  I call it a "fight" because it was more like Hughes getting rocked over and over again and trying to take GSP down and getting stuffed.

Machida is elusive, but Soku has 1 punch ko power and if Machida is on his back, he will eat a hammer fist or 20.

man GG im with you on machida, not that i dont think soku will loose, i would just like to see machida go on. however i would not put it past soku to beat the livin shit outta him.

GSP will KILL hughes in all aspects i reckon. i really dont see a way for hughes to win short of fluke bone breaking in GSPs body. hes got the stsdn up, hes got the cardio and hes got the ground game, i dont think any amount of prayer is gonna help hueghs this time round.

This thread will serve as the hub for discussions revolving around MMA.

It will be organized the following way:

1.  Place relevant articles here and discuss them.
2.  Place fight cards here and discuss them.
3.  After the event, and relevant discussion, the thread will be cleaned up and the discussions moved to an archive thread, which will be created at a later date.

I was wrong on a couple, but overall pretty accurate.  I was surprised by Soku.  However, GSP is the man, and will be the man for some time.  He made Hughes scream for mercy; a beautiful thing.

man i was really, really, REALLY shocked to see how much machida just man handled soku, did not see that coming. i am quite impressd with his performance from that fight, tho my pick is STILL shogun for 205. i dont see this really harming soku's image that much neither, so long as he kicks back he'll be knocking mofos tha fuck out in no time.

silva man....tut tut tut, where were the knees man? the KNEES? this was bull for me tho, not the fight, but cuz the stream i was watchng it on was JAM packed, fuck half the fight i was staring at a still image waiting for my buffer. even with the jumpy picture,  was very clear that chuck won. man one moment the pic froze and all i saw was wandi back up against the fence, head down, both hand up. and chuck was standing infront of the camera, back turned, throwing a BOMB of a haymaker. next minute the just dancing again in the cage.

no excuses, good job chuck.

Psfft like the GSP hughes fight could have went any other way. indeed, making an ex champ as successfull as hughes shreak a verbal submission is quality.

oh man Silva Vs Hendo. YEAH BABY YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my picks for 2008

HW- Antonio Rodrigo "minotauro" Nogiera

LHW- Maricio "shogun" Ruas

MW- Damgerous Dan Henderson

LW- probably THE most naturally gifted fighter ever, quite literaly made of rubber, Mr.Fuck indicas, i only smoke Sativas, the one and only

BJ Penn

HW:  Nog
LHW:  Rampage
MW:  Anderson
WW:  GSP
LW:  BJ

I do look forward to Anderson Hendo; it should be fight of the year.  Hendo is lethal at 185.  However, Pride guys have had a TERRIBLE go in the Octagon, which is why I am picking mainly non-Pride guys to hold belts.

Well that was kinda disappointing watching Soko getting handled like that. Wand vs Chuck wasn't too great either imo, they just aren't as energetic/explosive as they used to be. GSP was crazy though, I don't see anyone beating him when he's that sharp.
Machida is for real, I can see him giving Rampage alot of trouble.

HW: Nog
LHW: Machida
MW: Anderson
WW: GSP
LW: Frankie Edgar

Henderson at MW wouldn't suprise me either, just think Anderson will outspeed him, definitely gonna be a great fight.

I like Frankie Edgar, but he can be stopped.  He isn't on BJ's level YET, but he is a bad match up for just about anyone in that division.

man both of y'all are wrong about anderson hendo. i give silve props for amazing striking skills, but its nothing that hendo has not seen before. he will stand for  a while, but in the end silva will get dropped and beaten alive.

oooohh rampage VS machida Vs shougun.... you know my boys comming out on top. so he has ONE loss and all of a sudden hes lost it. he will KILL rampage again, but i see ,machida shogun fight being one hell of a fight, ala shogun rogerio.

2007 FIGHTER OF THE YEAR:

Randy Couture- the man came outta retirement and WOOPED the champ to get his belt back. fair enuff silva sucks dick, but i think gonzaga prooved that couture's win was not a fluke.

Silva has a ground game that is better than 90% of other mma fighters and a striking game that is better than 99% of fighters.  Hendo will have problems keeping Anderson on the ground and closing the distance.  This SHOULD be the fight of the year.  People keep sleeping on Anderson's ground game and he keeps showing that his ground game and take-down defense are on the elite level.  I like Hendo a lot, but Silva is a tough, tough matchup for him.

Machida will get destroyed by Shogun.  That is, if Shogun shows up ready to actually fight.

I think you put faar too much faith in silva, i know the man IS amazing, but the fights he has had in UFC dont even compare to the caliber that Hendo will bring. personally i dont think silva ground game is as good as say, Bustamonte and bIg Nog, and both of them struggled with hendo.

def stand up is where silva has a chance, altho i dont think hes as goos as you make him out to be. like i said, he EASILY picked apart the whole MW division, stormed throu them all in 1 round each, HENDO WILL NOT BE AS EASY. he has stood with silva in his peak, which to me means ALOT...AAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOT. fair enuff now silva has fallen off a littel bit, but for their 1st fight, Silva was the MAN and hendo was just a noob. yet he STILL held his own during that fight.

Hendo ois one of THE best all round pund for pund fighere ever. he is basically Fedor at that weight division, full aresnal of weapons, and has he EVEr been knock out?

I think your just pissed that machida man handled your boy so easily. i really dont think it will be a wlak for shogun, i see this being a very competative fight

You're nuts if you think that Hendo is the Fedor of that division.

man i didn't forget SHIT, i just dont diss a fighter from a SINGLE loss.

your nuts if you think misaka would beat henderson again, hell no. one UD loss doesn't mean shit to me. i cant remember teh fight exactly, but i do remeber being disapointed with hendo. that tourney SHOULD have been his man

what i meant was STYLE wise he's like the fedor for his weight. he can stand and throw BOMBS, and he can take them too, he has world class wrestling skills on the ground and not only can he hang with some of the BEST BJJ practioners in the world, but he can even submit them too. even when he's in the guard man, he does thoes leaping punches like fedor. guard or mount makes no major difference for either, as they BOTH do harm

in thus, silvas only chance i see is to KO hendo....but i dont see that happening *touches wood*

Mobile-friendly version Immortal Technique Biography

Born Felipe Andres Coronel on the 19th of February 1978, hip-hop artist Immortal Technique is a controversial figure in the U.S. His songs speak of the need for social justice and equality among all races, with special emphasis on the people of color or Latin Americans, but they also cover topics such as the fight against unfair imprisonments or militarism and many others.

His biography is hence quite intriguing, to say the least, and, just like the best anti aging cream is probably going to be lingering over the shelves of all cosmetic stores for many years to come, Immortal Technique’s songs are going to remain hot, fresh and sought after for a really long time. Due to the fact they speak about topics which are to be considered taboos, his lyrics continue to be listened to with the exterior shutters down in most homes.

Immortal technique was born in Peru, in El Hospital Militar de Lima; several years later, his family moved to America in order to escape the harsh living conditions in Peru. Even though they could not afford to buy any terrain a vendre there, they managed to move to Harlem in the ‘80s. Immortal Technique went to Hunter High School, but just like a hip replacement recall is never of good omen, his grades and behavior weren’t any good during high school either. He was the school bully, he harassed other students and he was not afraid to get involved in scandals with drug dealers from around the area. And while his interactions with these drug dealers were not as numerous as used cars in Phoenix are, they still managed to leave an ugly mark on his biography.

Plus, his graffiti did not actually resemble any Dreamweaver templates, but he was famous for his controversial acts of vandalism. His violence against others almost got him expelled in 1996, but he somehow managed to finish high school and even attend college at Pennsylvania State University. This time, his college experience only lasted for two years; he was then charged and convicted and he was eventually imprisoned in Pennsylvania.

In prison, just like a SEO San Antonio company would focus on booting a web site’s ranking, Immortal Technique also focused on boosting his own social ranking. He began studying the policy of religious history, and, finding the inspiration he needed, he began putting his thoughts in lyrics. In 1999 he was paroled and, even though he was first considered some sort of Agen Bola, as no one had heard of him at first, he began to attend freestyle battles he started winning.

From there on, his career started to bloom, as he gave birth to albums such as “Revolutionary Vol 1” in 2002, “Revolutionary Vol 2” in 2004 and “Revolutionary Vol 3” in 2008. He also became a political activist and started to sing about political injustice (check out his opinion on the imprisonment of Mumia Abu-Jamal or the songs on George W. Bush). Despite of the fact that his albums might not have gotten the type of positive reviews African mango reviews are usually comprised of, this has not stopped him from getting involved in future projects, including an important film collaboration. He might not approve the work of the CNA Financial Corporation, but we all need to eat, right?

Recently I've been in the market for used cars. Which I'm sure many of you know how long that process can take. Having to go from dealer to dealer and look at one car after another. What a painstaking process! Its a good thing I don't have to take a personality test after the whole process. I'm sure I'd have some pretty skewed results. After finally settling down and buying a new Audi A4, I found out I had a bigger problem on my hands. Where am I gonna park the car during winter? I decided I had to contact a local contractor and get remodeling estimates to redo our garage which had been having problems with leaks all last winter. After getting some rather expensive estimates back from contractors our family finally decided to move to a different area of New York, we took a look at jamestown ny homes which was recommended by a close friend of mine. Have you ever just had that feeling after looking at a town? You just knew it was the one. Well thankfully we had a lot of wonderful homes to look at that were priced perfectly. We eventually decided to go with a home with a nice garage for the new car, a gym witih a full pull up bar, and best of all my wife could stop taking her proactol and finally begin to use our at home gym!

When overlooking your home don't forget the key essentials to tie in the whole room and complete it altogether, such as a POS software to manage your point of sale units. Making the perfect home for everyone in your family is doable with the right budget. Start by heading to auction sites to see what type of homes are currently on the market and the prices. The History and Growth of Rap Music

If you are a music enthusiast, then it is very likely that you have come across a genre of music called rap music. Rap music is area that has very clear distinguishing features most notably the rapid and rhythmic chanting of the lyrics perfectly timed to the beat and musical accompaniment that forms the base of the song. Rap music traces its roots to the development of the hiphop subculture which predominantly carries four complementary musical styles namely: rapping, dancing and in particular break dancing, scratching or more popularity known as DJing, and graffiti writing which others dub as vandalism. Another sub-element of this genre is beat-boxing which also features heavily in the repertoire of many rap artists. If you thought this was an easy musical genre to characterize, then you were poorly informed: consider, many research papers and doctoral dissertations have been written on the subject of rap music and its accompanying stylistic elements.

The history of rap music, or hip-hop music, is composed of a series of rapid development phases that have all culminated in the popular rap versions of today. Before rap music took off in the 1990s, it was predominantly referred to as disco rap in the late 1970s. The three rappers who had a hand in coining the term “rap music” were DJ Hollywood, Lovebug Starski, and Keith Cowboy, the last one being officially credited with the term hip-hop. Rap music original began with improvisations and freestyle singing to add an element of unpredictability to the songs in parties and other gatherings. Even in the 1960s to 1970s, the initial elements of rap music where already sown in urban subcultures particularly in New York City where adhoc performances in the streets led to a coalescing of influences in the wake of the Civil Rights era. Like the iPhone 5 release date, it had a slow and steady rise building into an explosion of creativity and style that has made it into what it has become today.

At this very early stage of rap development, it was particularly tied to emcee-ing more than it was associated to any specific song. It predominantly tied songs together as an adlib in between. It was born out of the creative inputs of DJs who had to work with self-imposed musical constraints such as the 4/4 time beat and sampling or sequencing sections of other songs to create a smooth flow of uninterrupted musical stimuli. These were eventually married with electronic equipment such as drums and synthesizers, and ultimate melodies to give it that bite and identity. In a sense, rap music artists were basically like a video game designer who had to figure out each artistic component at every turn until it developed into a more coherent musical genre that became the rap music we know today.

The first recorded version of rap music came alive in the early 1980s when DJs decided to make records out of their freestyle MCing. This necessitated the documentation of song lyrics so they do not change during each and every rendition. The age of the stromanbieter for rap music was gone paving the way for more organized chaos. Still, the freestyle and improvisation element remained a part of many DJ interludes as the song goes through certain sections that did not require too much rap singing.

Likewise, as a consequence of the hip-hop records, the influence of rap began to spread faster than ever before. Artists no longer had to travel far to get their music heard. Now, records from New York City and Philadelphia can be reproduced and transported to cities like Los Angeles, New Orleans, Dallas, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Seattle among others for people to appreciate and enjoy. This was primarily the reason for rap music’s rapid growth. Like Christmas mini lights, cities formed the nodes through which rap music would spread to other parts of the country. From small beginnings to grand achievements, the birth certificate translation to true stardom took a matter of years for rap music to be realized. Since then, its take-off and rise has been meteoric.

In this regard, it is almost impossible to talk about rap music but not discuss the golden age of rap. This was the era from the late 1980s to the mid 1990s when rap grew at an astounding rate fueled by the creative contributions of many artists from all over the continental United States and in many parts of the world. The primary trait of the Golden Age or Rap was that it was an almost unbroken wave of transformative music with every single pushing the boundaries of the genre. From this age and in the succeeding Gansta Rap age came names like Run-D.M.C., Dr. Dre, Ice T, MC Hammer, The Wu-tang Clan, Snoop Dogg, and The Notorious B.I.G. among others. The list of names can virtually fill a Sharepoint Hive without any problems.

According to social studies published in 2005, teenagers and children are more familiar with hip-hop and rap music more than any other musical genre. Up to 65% of all children from ages 8 to 18 hear hip-hop music on a daily basis, making it their routinary keratin hair treatment session, almost to the point that it has become an intrinsic part of their lives. With the diversification of the genre to include the more stylish R&B or rhythm and blues, it is not difficult to explain how rap music has continued to pervade radio station, TV and movie song line-ups.
