Before this thread takes over my life

Lol...seriously...

I don't recall you defining femininity to me. What is it? What is masculinity? You say that sensitivity could not take away from the masculinity. If sensitivity is a natural and an accepted virtue of women, if a man has too much of it, would that not make him less 'masculine'?
How will strength make you less feminine?
Are we talking about mainstream femininity which is equal to pretty hair, pink, gentle manners versus testosterone, big strong build, or certain mannerisms which make us male/female besides the biological?

You asked me..."You say that a woman should be a certain way..Once again you are using a male way of thinking, of what a woman should be like. This falls into the category of sexism when men do this. What is femininity? What is gentleness? Must we all be gentle to be considered women?"

To which i responded that having strenght doesn't make you less feminine. Just like being sensitive doesn't make a man less masculine. Meaning that woman don't have to lose their natural way of being and try to become exactly like men to feel that they have strenght. I don't know how to explain the differences between men and women with words, I just know that there are certain aspects that make us different and each sexe can keep their caracteristics while embracing the caracteristics of the opposite sex to a certain extent.

And from your earlier posts, you say that women don't seem happy. This is not a result of feminism, but rather of society not accepting this change. I will not sit here and accept it because people like their comfortable, safe bubbles. I don't think I'm asking for too much when I say I want EQUAL rights as a man. Many of them have used the biological differences to 'prove' their superiority. When I say equality, I don't want to be a man or look like one, I just want the same access to the things that they have, the same opportunities, same pay, and same privileges which currently put us in the categories which are discriminatory and oppressive.

It's also why I think every woman should be a feminist.

Well I've often been bashed for being a feminist, or how some ppl put it a "feminazi" so you don't have to convince me.

As for the other points you made, we have discussed them at lenght and I don't feel like there is anything more to add.

Nayiri, your church would have been happier if women are still slaves to men.

*rollie eyes* That's a personal opinion on your part, not valid for debating since there is no way to prove one way or the other.

Actualy i take that back...there is a way to prove your personal opinion is wrong...

"The feminine genius is needed in all expressions in the life of society, therefore the presence of women in the workplace must also be guaranteed. The first indispensable step in this direction is the concrete possibility of access to professional formation. The recognition and defence of women's rights in the context of work generally depend on the organization of work, which must take into account the dignity and vocation of women, whose “true advancement ... requires that labour should be structured in such a way that women do not have to pay for their advancement by abandoning what is specific to them”.[636] This issue is the measure of the quality of society and its effective defence of women's right to work.

The persistence of many forms of discrimination offensive to the dignity and vocation of women in the area of work is due to a long series of conditioning that penalizes women, who have seen “their prerogatives misrepresented” and themselves “relegated to the margins of society and even reduced to servitude”.[637] These difficulties, unfortunately, have not been overcome, as is demonstrated wherever there are situations that demoralize women, making them objects of a very real exploitation. An urgent need to recognize effectively the rights of women in the workplace is seen especially under the aspects of pay, insurance and social security."

“Male” and “female” differentiate two individuals of equal dignity, which does not however reflect a static equality, because the specificity of the female is different from the specificity of the male, and this difference in equality is enriching and indispensable for the harmony of life in society: “The condition that will assure the rightful presence of woman in the Church and in society is a more penetrating and accurate consideration of the anthropological foundation for masculinity and femininity with the intent of clarifying woman's personal identity in relation to man, that is, a diversity yet mutual complementarily, not only as it concerns roles to be held and functions to be performed, but also, and more deeply, as it concerns her make-up and meaning as a person”[287].

147. Woman is the complement of man, as man is the complement of woman: man and woman complete each other mutually, not only from a physical and psychological point of view, but also ontologically. It is only because of the duality of “male” and “female” that the “human” being becomes a full reality. It is the “unity of the two”[288], or in other words a relational “uni-duality”, that allows each person to experience the interpersonal and reciprocal relationship as a gift that at the same time is a mission: “to this ‘unity of the two' God has entrusted not only the work of procreation and family life, but the creation of history itself”[289]. “The woman is ‘a helper' for the man, just as the man is ‘a helper' for the woman!”[290]: in the encounter of man and woman a unitary conception of the human person is brought about, based not on the logic of self-centredness and self-affirmation, but on that of love and solidarity."

hhhaaactually, the question i posed was

how would YOU feel if your child came back one day saying that the preist made him touch his penis untill sticky white pee came out.

only to then after 5 months find the very same man, working with children AGAIN.

so how would you feel if it was your child, or sibling

and from the same link

British lawyer Richard Scorer, who acts for children abused by Catholic priests in the UK, echoes this view and has described the document as 'explosive'.

He said: 'We always suspected that the Catholic Church systematically covered up abuse and tried to silence victims. This document['Crimine solicitationies'] appears to prove it. Threatening excommunication to anybody who speaks out shows the lengths the most senior figures in the Vatican were prepared to go to prevent the information getting out to the public domain.'

funny that, even tho the 'Crimine solicitationies' states that state investigations will be done along side the vaticans, that this lawyer seems to think otherwise.

Although Murphy-O'Connor has apologised publicly for his mistake, Scorer claims the secret Vatican document raises the question about whether his failure to report Hill was due to him following this instruction from Rome.

If this is the type of logic the Vatican haters have, then I'll stay on the side of the hated Smiley
So you know about all the shit that went on in the name of the papacy? Even more basic, do you know what some of the popes actually got up to?

Pope Stephen VI
Quote
Stephen is chiefly remembered in connection with his conduct towards the remains of Pope Formosus, his last predecessor but one. Doubtless under pressure from the Spoleto contingent, and fueled by Stephen's fury with his predecessor, the rotting corpse of Formosus was exhumed and put on trial, in the so-called Cadaver Synod (or Synodus Horrenda), in January 897. With the corpse propped up on a throne, a deacon was appointed to answer for the deceased pontiff, who was condemned for performing the functions of a bishop when he had been deposed and for receiving the pontificate while he was the bishop of Porto, among other revived charges that had been leveled against Formosus in the strife during the pontificate of John VIII. The corpse was found guilty, stripped of its sacred vestments, deprived of three fingers of its right hand (the blessing fingers), clad in the garb of a layman, and quickly buried; it was then re-exhumed and thrown in the Tiber

Pope John XII
Quote
An account of the charges leveled against him from Patrologia Latina includes:

Then, rising up, the cardinal priest Peter testified that he himself had seen [John XII] celebrate mass without taking communion. John, bishop of Narni, and John, a cardinal deacon, professed that they themselves saw that a deacon had been ordained in a horse stable, but were unsure of the time. Benedict, cardinal deacon, with other co-deacons and priests, said they knew that he had been paid for ordaining bishops, specifically that he had ordained a ten-year-old bishop in the city of Todi... They testified about his adultery, which they did not see with their own eyes, but nonetheless knew with certainty: he had fornicated with the widow of Rainier, with Stephana his father's concubine, with the widow Anna, and with his own niece, and he made the sacred palace into a whorehouse. They said that he had gone hunting publicly; that he had blinded his confessor Benedict, and thereafter Benedict had died; that he had killed John, cardinal subdeacon, after castrating him; and that he had set fires, girded on a sword, and put on a helmet and cuirass. All, clerics as well as laymen, declared that he had toasted to the devil with wine. They said when playing at dice, he invoked Jupiter, Venus and other demons. They even said he did not celebrate Matins and the canonical hours nor did he make the sign of the cross.

Pope Benedict IX
Quote
the only man ever to have sold the papacy
Quote
He reportedly led an extremely dissolute life, and also allegedly had few qualifications for the papacy other than connections with a socially powerful family
Quote
He was also accused by Bishop Benno of Piacenza of "many vile adulteries and murders."[2] Pope Victor III in his third book of Dialogues, referred to "his rapes, murders and other unspeakable acts. His life as a Pope so vile, so foul, so execrable, that I shudder to think of it."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Benedict_IX

Pope Urban VI
Quote
Several among his peregrine cardinals, who had been shut up in Nocera with him, determined to make a stand: they determined that a pope, who by his incapacity or blind obstinacy, might be put in the charge of one of the cardinals. Urban had them seized, tortured and put to death, "a crime unheard of through the centuries" the chronicler Egidio da Viterbo remarked.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Urban_VI

Pope Alexander VI
Quote
But it was not long before his passion for endowing his relatives at the church's and his neighbours' expense became manifest. To that end he was ready to commit any crime and to plunge all Italy into war.
Quote
In spite of the splendours of the Pontifical court, the condition of Rome became every day more deplorable. The city swarmed with Spanish adventurers, assassins, prostitutes and informers; murder and robbery were committed with impunity, and the Pope himself cast aside all show of decorum, living a purely secular life; indulging in the chase, and arranging dancing, stage plays and orgies (culminating in the debaucherous Banquet of Chestnuts of 1501) within the Vatican itself.
Quote
Alexander gave away the temporal estates of the papacy to his children as though they belonged to him. The secularization of the church was carried to a pitch never before dreamed of, and it was clear to all Italy that he regarded the papacy as an instrument of worldly schemes with no thought of its religious aspect. During his pontificate the church was brought to its lowest level of degradation.

Pope Leo X
Quote
Various indications point to Leo's homosexuality. The principal evidence is the account of the historian Francesco Guicciardini (1483-1540) who, just a few years after Leo's death, wrote[1] in 1525: At the beginning of his pontificate most people deemed him very chaste; however, he was afterwards discovered to be exceedingly devoted - and every day with less and less shame - to that kind of pleasure that for honour's sake may not be named.
Quote
When he became Pope, Leo X is reported to have said to his brother Giuliano: "Since God has given us the papacy, let us enjoy it."
Quote
His extravagance offended not only people like Martin Luther, but also some cardinals, who, led by Alfonso Petrucci of Siena, plotted an assassination attempt. Eventually, Pope Leo found out who these people were, and had them followed. The conspirators died of "food poisoning." Some people argue that Leo X and his followers simply concocted the assassination charges in a moneymaking scheme to collect fines from the various wealthy cardinals Leo X detested.
Quote
Leo's lively interest in art and literature, to say nothing of his natural liberality, his alleged nepotism, his political ambitions and necessities, and his immoderate personal luxury, exhausted within two years the hard savings of Julius II, and precipitated a financial crisis from which he never emerged and which was a direct cause of most of what, from a papal point of view, were calamities of his pontificate. He created many new offices and sold them, a move seen by later Catholics as being "shameless". He sold cardinals' hats. He sold membership in the "Knights of Peter".

Are you absolutely certain that you want to commit your spirituality to an organisation like this?

And it's not about being a Catholic, my grandmother for eg. was a very devout Catholic and she had NO loyalty to Rome. In fact she saw Rome more as a dated embarrassment to Catholicism.

I have said many times that I believe popes in the past have done horrible things. I'm not one to deny that. Some popes even had children who succeeded them which is completely against what being a pope should be. It's part of history. However, I do beleive things are different nowadays. Surely, you cannot compare someone like Jean-Paul II or all the individual preists and nuns who spend their lives helping the needy to the examples you just posted.

Well in present day Catholicism the Vatican has protected child-abusers.
The Vatican instructed Catholic bishops around the world to cover up cases of sexual abuse or risk being thrown out of the Church.

Vatican told bishops to cover up sex abuse
The Observer has obtained a 40-year-old confidential document from the secret Vatican archive which lawyers are calling a 'blueprint for deception and concealment'. One British lawyer acting for Church child abuse victims has described it as 'explosive'.

The 69-page Latin document bearing the seal of Pope John XXIII was sent to every bishop in the world. The instructions outline a policy of 'strictest' secrecy in dealing with allegations of sexual abuse and threatens those who speak out with excommunication.

They also call for the victim to take an oath of secrecy at the time of making a complaint to Church officials. It states that the instructions are to 'be diligently stored in the secret archives of the Curia [Vatican] as strictly confidential. Nor is it to be published nor added to with any commentaries.'

The document, which has been confirmed as genuine by the Roman Catholic Church in England and Wales, is called 'Crimine solicitationies', which translates as 'instruction on proceeding in cases of solicitation'.

It focuses on sexual abuse initiated as part of the confessional relationship between a priest and a member of his congregation. But the instructions also cover what it calls the 'worst crime', described as an obscene act perpetrated by a cleric with 'youths of either sex or with brute animals (bestiality)'.

Bishops are instructed to pursue these cases 'in the most secretive way... restrained by a perpetual silence... and everyone... is to observe the strictest secret which is commonly regarded as a secret of the Holy Office... under the penalty of excommunication'.

Pope 'led cover-up of child abuse by priests'
The Pope played a leading role in a systematic cover-up of child sex abuse by Roman Catholic priests, according to a shocking documentary to be screened by the BBC tonight.

In 2001, while he was a cardinal, he issued a secret Vatican edict to Catholic bishops all over the world, instructing them to put the Church's interests ahead of child safety.

The document recommended that rather than reporting sexual abuse to the relevant legal authorities, bishops should encourage the victim, witnesses and perpetrator not to talk about it. And, to keep victims quiet, it threatened that if they repeat the allegations they would be excommunicated.

The Panorama special, Sex Crimes And The Vatican, investigates the details of this little-known document for the first time. The programme also accuses the Catholic Church of knowingly harbouring paedophile clergymen. It reveals that priests accused of child abuse are generally not struck off or arrested but simply moved to another parish, often to reoffend. It gives examples of hush funds being used to silence the victims.

Before being elected as Pope Benedict XVI in April last year, the pontiff was Cardinal Thomas Ratzinger who had, for 24 years, been the head of the powerful Congregation of the Doctrine of The Faith, the department of the Roman Catholic Church charged with promoting Catholic teachings on morals and matters of faith. An arch-Conservative, he was regarded as the 'enforcer' of Pope John Paul II in cracking down on liberal challenges to traditional Catholic teachings.

Five years ago he sent out an updated version of the notorious 1962 Vatican document Crimen Sollicitationis - Latin for The Crime of Solicitation - which laid down the Vatican's strict instructions on covering up sexual scandal. It was regarded as so secret that it came with instructions that bishops had to keep it locked in a safe at all times.

Cardinal Ratzinger reinforced the strict cover-up policy by introducing a new principle: that the Vatican must have what it calls Exclusive Competence. In other words, he commanded that all child abuse allegations should be dealt with direct by Rome.

Patrick Wall, a former Vatican-approved enforcer of the Crimen Sollicitationis in America, tells the programme: "I found out I wasn't working for a holy institution, but an institution that was wholly concentrated on protecting itself."

And Father Tom Doyle, a Vatican lawyer until he was sacked for criticising the church's handling of child abuse claims, says: "What you have here is an explicit written policy to cover up cases of child sexual abuse by the clergy and to punish those who would call attention to these crimes by the churchmen.

"When abusive priests are discovered, the response has been not to investigate and prosecute but to move them from one place to another. So there's total disregard for the victims and for the fact that you are going to have a whole new crop of victims in the next place. This is happening all over the world."

The investigation could not come at a worse time for Pope Benedict, who is desperately trying to mend the Church's relations with the Muslim world after a speech in which he quoted a 14th Century Byzantine emperor who said that Islam was spread by holy war and had brought only evil to the world.

The Panorama programme is presented by Colm O'Gorman, who was raped by a priest when he was 14. He said: "What gets me is that it's the same story every time and every place. Bishops appoint priests who they know have abused children in the past to new parishes and new communities and more abuse happens."

Your precious Benedict had nazi connections when he wasn't the pope, your fucking Catholic church supported/or did nothing about the Nazis when they are exterminating Jews.  Then the first thing he did when he came into power is to stir shit with the muslim community by citing Byzantine texts, Byzantines are scum bag mass slave owners.

Mobile-friendly version Immortal Technique Biography

Born Felipe Andres Coronel on the 19th of February 1978, hip-hop artist Immortal Technique is a controversial figure in the U.S. His songs speak of the need for social justice and equality among all races, with special emphasis on the people of color or Latin Americans, but they also cover topics such as the fight against unfair imprisonments or militarism and many others.

His biography is hence quite intriguing, to say the least, and, just like the best anti aging cream is probably going to be lingering over the shelves of all cosmetic stores for many years to come, Immortal Technique’s songs are going to remain hot, fresh and sought after for a really long time. Due to the fact they speak about topics which are to be considered taboos, his lyrics continue to be listened to with the exterior shutters down in most homes.

Immortal technique was born in Peru, in El Hospital Militar de Lima; several years later, his family moved to America in order to escape the harsh living conditions in Peru. Even though they could not afford to buy any terrain a vendre there, they managed to move to Harlem in the ‘80s. Immortal Technique went to Hunter High School, but just like a hip replacement recall is never of good omen, his grades and behavior weren’t any good during high school either. He was the school bully, he harassed other students and he was not afraid to get involved in scandals with drug dealers from around the area. And while his interactions with these drug dealers were not as numerous as used cars in Phoenix are, they still managed to leave an ugly mark on his biography.

Plus, his graffiti did not actually resemble any Dreamweaver templates, but he was famous for his controversial acts of vandalism. His violence against others almost got him expelled in 1996, but he somehow managed to finish high school and even attend college at Pennsylvania State University. This time, his college experience only lasted for two years; he was then charged and convicted and he was eventually imprisoned in Pennsylvania.

In prison, just like a SEO San Antonio company would focus on booting a web site’s ranking, Immortal Technique also focused on boosting his own social ranking. He began studying the policy of religious history, and, finding the inspiration he needed, he began putting his thoughts in lyrics. In 1999 he was paroled and, even though he was first considered some sort of Agen Bola, as no one had heard of him at first, he began to attend freestyle battles he started winning.

From there on, his career started to bloom, as he gave birth to albums such as “Revolutionary Vol 1” in 2002, “Revolutionary Vol 2” in 2004 and “Revolutionary Vol 3” in 2008. He also became a political activist and started to sing about political injustice (check out his opinion on the imprisonment of Mumia Abu-Jamal or the songs on George W. Bush). Despite of the fact that his albums might not have gotten the type of positive reviews African mango reviews are usually comprised of, this has not stopped him from getting involved in future projects, including an important film collaboration. He might not approve the work of the CNA Financial Corporation, but we all need to eat, right?

Recently I've been in the market for used cars. Which I'm sure many of you know how long that process can take. Having to go from dealer to dealer and look at one car after another. What a painstaking process! Its a good thing I don't have to take a personality test after the whole process. I'm sure I'd have some pretty skewed results. After finally settling down and buying a new Audi A4, I found out I had a bigger problem on my hands. Where am I gonna park the car during winter? I decided I had to contact a local contractor and get remodeling estimates to redo our garage which had been having problems with leaks all last winter. After getting some rather expensive estimates back from contractors our family finally decided to move to a different area of New York, we took a look at jamestown ny homes which was recommended by a close friend of mine. Have you ever just had that feeling after looking at a town? You just knew it was the one. Well thankfully we had a lot of wonderful homes to look at that were priced perfectly. The History and Growth of Rap Music

If you are a music enthusiast, then it is very likely that you have come across a genre of music called rap music. Rap music is area that has very clear distinguishing features most notably the rapid and rhythmic chanting of the lyrics perfectly timed to the beat and musical accompaniment that forms the base of the song. Rap music traces its roots to the development of the hiphop subculture which predominantly carries four complementary musical styles namely: rapping, dancing and in particular break dancing, scratching or more popularity known as DJing, and graffiti writing which others dub as vandalism. Another sub-element of this genre is beat-boxing which also features heavily in the repertoire of many rap artists. If you thought this was an easy musical genre to characterize, then you were poorly informed: consider, many research papers and doctoral dissertations have been written on the subject of rap music and its accompanying stylistic elements.

The history of rap music, or hip-hop music, is composed of a series of rapid development phases that have all culminated in the popular rap versions of today. Before rap music took off in the 1990s, it was predominantly referred to as disco rap in the late 1970s. The three rappers who had a hand in coining the term “rap music” were DJ Hollywood, Lovebug Starski, and Keith Cowboy, the last one being officially credited with the term hip-hop. Rap music original began with improvisations and freestyle singing to add an element of unpredictability to the songs in parties and other gatherings. Even in the 1960s to 1970s, the initial elements of rap music where already sown in urban subcultures particularly in New York City where adhoc performances in the streets led to a coalescing of influences in the wake of the Civil Rights era. Like the iPhone 5 release date, it had a slow and steady rise building into an explosion of creativity and style that has made it into what it has become today.

At this very early stage of rap development, it was particularly tied to emcee-ing more than it was associated to any specific song. It predominantly tied songs together as an adlib in between. It was born out of the creative inputs of DJs who had to work with self-imposed musical constraints such as the 4/4 time beat and sampling or sequencing sections of other songs to create a smooth flow of uninterrupted musical stimuli. These were eventually married with electronic equipment such as drums and synthesizers, and ultimate melodies to give it that bite and identity. In a sense, rap music artists were basically like a video game designer who had to figure out each artistic component at every turn until it developed into a more coherent musical genre that became the rap music we know today.

The first recorded version of rap music came alive in the early 1980s when DJs decided to make records out of their freestyle MCing. This necessitated the documentation of song lyrics so they do not change during each and every rendition. The age of the stromanbieter for rap music was gone paving the way for more organized chaos. Still, the freestyle and improvisation element remained a part of many DJ interludes as the song goes through certain sections that did not require too much rap singing.

Likewise, as a consequence of the hip-hop records, the influence of rap began to spread faster than ever before. Artists no longer had to travel far to get their music heard. Now, records from New York City and Philadelphia can be reproduced and transported to cities like Los Angeles, New Orleans, Dallas, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Seattle among others for people to appreciate and enjoy. This was primarily the reason for rap music’s rapid growth. Like Christmas mini lights, cities formed the nodes through which rap music would spread to other parts of the country. From small beginnings to grand achievements, the birth certificate translation to true stardom took a matter of years for rap music to be realized. Since then, its take-off and rise has been meteoric.

In this regard, it is almost impossible to talk about rap music but not discuss the golden age of rap. This was the era from the late 1980s to the mid 1990s when rap grew at an astounding rate fueled by the creative contributions of many artists from all over the continental United States and in many parts of the world. The primary trait of the Golden Age or Rap was that it was an almost unbroken wave of transformative music with every single pushing the boundaries of the genre. From this age and in the succeeding Gansta Rap age came names like Run-D.M.C., Dr. Dre, Ice T, MC Hammer, The Wu-tang Clan, Snoop Dogg, and The Notorious B.I.G. among others. The list of names can virtually fill a Sharepoint Hive without any problems.

According to social studies published in 2005, teenagers and children are more familiar with hip-hop and rap music more than any other musical genre. Up to 65% of all children from ages 8 to 18 hear hip-hop music on a daily basis, making it their routinary keratin hair treatment session, almost to the point that it has become an intrinsic part of their lives. With the diversification of the genre to include the more stylish R&B or rhythm and blues, it is not difficult to explain how rap music has continued to pervade radio station, TV and movie song line-ups. The marriage of rap and jazz which paved the way for R&B is itself a phenomenon that warrants all sorts of social analysis.

And with its very strong following, it is safe to say that rap music is here to stay. Years from now, when you open your TV on a bright Saturday morning, there’s a big chance you would be watching the next stage in the evolution of rap music, and there’s an even better chance you would be dancing or singing to that tune.
